Change Of Destiny

By, Cassie

Kaioshin of the East lay on the grass on top of a hill. His arms were being used as a pillow, his eyes were closed, and his feet were crossed. The sun was bright, and a few clouds could be seen in the purple sky of Kaioshinkai, home to the Kaioshins. East Kaioshin was in a light sleep, relaxing from a stressful week.

Earlier that week, an evil being that the Kaioshin’s learned was named Buu, had destroyed two planets in the southern universe, five in the north, and three in both the east and west. However, he had disappeared as quickly as he came. Master Kaioshin looked into the evil one, and discovered a wizard known as Bibidi created him. The Kaioshins kept a close watch on the universe the whole week, but no sign of Buu was detected. Master Kaioshin had told the others to keep their eyes pealed, but for now return to their normal watch over everything.

Each Kaioshin was the guardian so to speak of a section of the universe. These sections included the north, south, east, and west. North Kaioshin was an older man that loved to fish. South Kaioshin was the strongest of the group, not to mention the tallest. West Kaioshin was the only female Kaioshin, and she loved to tease her companions whenever possible. And then there was East Kaioshin, who was a quiet god that kept to himself most of the time. Master Kaioshin was basically the others’ boss. He was a heavy man that loved food, and had a heart of gold.

East Kaioshin could hear laughter at the bottom of the hill, but didn’t pay much attention to it. The breeze blew his white hair gently as a shadow loomed over him. He opened his eyes to see the lovely face of West Kaioshin. She laughed and placed something next to him and took off. East glanced down to see fishing bait. He smiled and shook his head. Soon North Kaioshin came jogging up the hill out of breath.

“Where did she go?” He said between breaths.

“Is this what you’re looking for?” East Kaioshin said holding up the bait.

“That girl is always playing some sort of trick. She just wanted to see me run up the hill, that’s all,” North said taking the bait.

“That’s West Kaioshin for you,” East said laying back down.

North Kaioshin sat down next to him so he could catch his breath. “I just realized I could have flown instead of run after her.” East Kaioshin laughed.

“Working hard or hardly working, East Kaioshin?” Said a female voice.

“You owe me, West,” North Kaioshin stated.

“Owe you what? You’re the one who chose to run up the hill instead of fly,” she giggled.

“So who’s next on your hit list?” East asked.

“I don’t know. Besides, I wouldn’t tell you because then it wouldn’t be a surprise.”

“Well,” North said, “You played your joke on me…so don’t make me the target two times in a row.” He got to his feet and took a few steps forward. “I’ll see you two later,” and with that he disappeared.

West laughed to herself and sat down and wrapped her arms around her knees. “What are you thinking about?”

“Nothing much,” East Kaioshin said.

“Well, I was thinking about that Majin Buu. Do you think he’ll appear again?”

“I don’t know.”

West looked up at the sky. “I have this bad feeling, East. Like a premonition of what’s going to come. There’s evil everywhere lately.”

“I’m as worried as you are. Master Kaioshin said not to worry that much about it, but…”

“But how could we when our planets are being destroyed,” West interrupted. “Thousands of people are dying while we sit here and watch.” She played with a lock of her white hair with her fingers. “I don’t know. I guess everything will be okay. I mean it’s not like that guy can come here…”

A few days passed. The universe was still quiet, except for the conflicts that took place on some planets. However, something like that was to be left alone by the Kaioshins. Master Kaioshin was eating a mid-day meal, South Kaioshin was meditating, and North and West Kaioshin were playing a chess game. East Kaioshin watched for a while, but became board of the two sitting there in silence trying to determine a strategy. Finally he got up and took a walk.

“Ha! Check!” West Kaioshin exclaimed.

North Kaioshin concentrated as he looked at his king. He quickly found a way to free his piece. “Try again.”

West mumbled to herself, for that was the fifteenth time she had gotten him into check, yet he still found a way to get out if it. “I’m not going to let you win.” West reached across the board for her knight when a powerful force could be felt. “Do you think its Buu?” She asked.

“No…this force is pure…and familiar,” North said looking to his right.

“I agree…it almost feels like East Kaioshin’s power…but stronger.”

Then a figure could be seen walking towards them. When he came into view, neither North nor West Kaioshin recognized him, though he wore a Kaioshin’s apparel. He was almost as tall as South Kaioshin, with long white hair and light purple skin like East Kaioshin’s. His vest was red, his shirt and pants light blue, an orange sash around his waist, and yellow boots. He looked around until he was a few yards from North and West.

North Kaioshin stood up and looked up at the stranger. “May I ask what business you bring?”

The stranger looked down at the old man and smiled. “I’m here to talk to all of you.”

West Kaioshin raised an eyebrow when he heard his voice. “Excuse me, but you sound, look, and your ki is very familiar.”

“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you, West Kaioshin. I should be familiar, because in a sense, you know me,” the stranger said.

“I’ve never met you before,” she said.

“Well, not me, but you do know me.”

“I don’t understand…” West said.

“Son, what do you want? You have no right to be on this planet and wearing those clothes,” North Kaioshin stated.

“Please give me a chance to explain everything,” the stranger said.

“What’s going on?” East Kaioshin said coming behind them.

The stranger turned around and looked down at the god. “It’s been so long since I’ve seen myself like that.”

“Huh?” East Kaioshin said with a confused look.

“I know you don’t understand, but you will eventually. That’s why I’ve come. But before I start, where are South and Master Kaioshin?”

“West, go find Master Kaioshin,” North said. He could see South Kaioshin walking to the group.

“What’s going on here? I feel two powers like East’s,” South said.

“This man here said he’s going to explain everything once Master Kaioshin comes,” North said.

When Master Kaioshin joined the group, the Kaioshins sat down on benches and gave their full attention to the stranger. “Now please tell us who you are,” Master Kaioshin said.

“My name will probably come as a shock to you, and I’m sure you won’t believe me at first. The reason you feel my ki as East Kaioshin’s is because I am East Kaioshin,” the stranger started.

“Impossible!” East Kaioshin said.

“There’s no way you can be East Kaioshin when he’s right here,” West Kaioshin pointed out.

“You’re not a deceased Kaioshin, are you?” South asked.

“No. I’m from a different time line than this one. I come from the future. The East Kaioshin that sits with you know is what was and still partly am.”

“I don’t understand. How could you be me?” East asked.

“You all know Kibito, the servant of the Grand Kai?” He asked. They all nodded. “I am fused with him, and that’s why you don’t recognize me as East Kaioshin. If you look closely you can see the resemblance of both of us.”

“You do sort of look like Kibito, but not that much,” West said.

“Why did you do such a thing? And how?” North asked.

“I fused with Kibito to demonstrate the Patora earrings, which you all wear. You do not know it, but the Z sword on this planet is a prison to a Kaioshin 15 generations before me…err…you. The sword broke, thus releasing him. He had told me about the earrings’ power and Kibito and I tried it, however he neglected to mention that the fusion was permanent.”

“But why?” South asked.

“You all know of Majin Buu and Bibidi now, right?” They nodded. “If I’m not mistaken, I remember that they appeared not long before the chess game that West and North were just playing.”

“Almost two weeks,” West said.

“Yes. I remember the day. And I also remember what West Kaioshin had said to me that day on the hill…”

“What did she say?” East Kaioshin asked.

“You should know…she told you. ‘It’s not like that guy can come here.’ Remember?”

“Yes…” East said in surprise.

“What about it?” West asked.

“You were wrong about that statement. Bibidi does in fact bring Majin Buu to Kaioshinkai. And I’m sorry to say…all of you die…except me.”

“Preposterous,” North said standing up.

“Calm down, North Kaioshin. Let’s see what else he has to say,” Master Kaioshin said.

“Thank you Master Kaioshin,” the future East Kaioshin said. “Like I said, Majin Buu is brought here…and he is too strong for any of us to defeat. He first killed West, then North, and then he absorbed South, beat me into the ground, and absorbed Master Kaioshin. After Buu absorbed Master Kaioshin, all he wanted was to eat, so Bibidi brought him to wherever they went. I would’ve died, but Kibito came to my aid and healed me.

“After that I kept a close watch on Bibidi, and finally caught up to him at the planet Earth. He was about to release Buu on that planet, however we destroyed him before he had the chance. We both believe that Buu was no longer a threat. So we buried his egg and left. However, some time later, Bibidi’s son Babidi took up his father’s work. To make a long story short, Babidi succeed in releasing Buu. Kibito and I had gone to Earth to prevent this, but it was no use. He was able to gather enough energy to release the monster. Three Saiyans had helped, and finally we were able to defeat him.”

“That’s terrible…” West Kaioshin said.

“I know. That’s why I’ve come. I know the pain and suffering Buu can cause, for I was twice his victim.”

“So you came to warn us,” South Kaioshin said. “But if we were no match for Buu in your timeline, what makes you think we will be now?”

“I thought it would give you time to prepare. And I’ll stay and help, if you want. See, as West Kaioshin told me, no one here thought Bibidi could possibly come to Kaioshinkai, but we were mistaken.”

The five Kaioshin’s looked at each other in amazement, and disbelief. East Kaioshin looked at his future self. He couldn’t believe that he would one day fuse with Kibito. “I have a question,” he said. “Why did Kibito fuse with you? I mean there was no one else?”

“No there wasn’t,” Mirai Kaioshin said. “Kibito came to live with me at Kaioshinkai, to protect me because I was the last Kaioshin. Rou Kaioshin had already fused with an old witch and to tell you the truth, I don’t think I could’ve handled being fused with him. Kibito was the only one. We didn’t know the final results, though it has made me twice as strong.”

“My gosh…” East Kaioshin said. He looked up at the sky. “When will Bibidi and Majin Buu come?”

“Twelve days from now. Bibidi needs to find energy to revive Majin Buu with. He will destroy another planet in the south quadrant, and then he comes here.”

South Kaioshin stood up. “We must stop him.”

“I agree,” West Kaioshin said standing up next to him.

“You’re help will be grateful,” Master Kaioshin said coming up to Mirai Kaioshin.

“I’ll be here.”

East Kaioshin walked along a bricked path with Mirai Kaioshin. They found it amusing to exchange experiences, though they were the same. “Remember when you were a kid West Kaioshin dumped a bucket of ice water on your head?” East Kaioshin asked.

“How could I forget? I remember being mad at her for months for that one,” Mirai Kaioshin laughed. “I remember the first time I went to another planet. These kids were playing in the street, only I thought they were trying to kill each other.”

“And when you went over to them they kicked your knee and called you a freak,” East finished. “It’s so weird to say these things and you know what I’m talking about.”

“I know.”

The two walked on a littler farther. Mirai Kaioshin looked at the sky, comparing it to home. “Only eight days left,” he commented.

“What if we still cannot defeat Buu? What will happen to us then?”

Mirai Kaioshin paused. “I don’t know. I’m hoping that we’ll be able to defeat Buu when he gets here. If we all attack him at once, then hopefully we’ll stand a chance. The worst thing that could happen is that he absorbs South Kaioshin. That’s when he’ll become an unstoppable force for anyone.”

Two days remained until Majin Buu was supposed to appear on Kaioshinkai. The gods had trained themselves, and were prepared to fight. They knew that they were the boarder between Majin Buu and the universe. South Kaioshin watched his section of the universe carefully, knowing that one of his planets would be the next victim to Buu, or at least according to Mirai Kaioshin. Finally, that moment came out of nowhere. South Kaioshin rose to his feet, unable to believe it.

“What is it?” North Kaioshin asked.

South Kaioshin looked at the sky. “It’s happened. Planet Cajuu is gone…I didn’t even see it coming. He was right…Buu is coming…I can feel it.”

“We must inform the others,” North said.

Master Kaioshin sat down on a bench when he learned of the loss. “So…what our future friend said was correct. That means Majin Buu will be here…we must not let him win. The universe cannot suffer anymore losses.”

The day Mirai Kaioshin had warned the gods about had come. He sat in a field, not far from the present East Kaioshin, who lay in the grass reading a book. South Kaioshin could be heard yelling after West. She carried a giant rice ball-South’s favorite thing. He chased her, trying to get the ball from her. East Kaioshin sat up to watch and laughed at the sight. West came to cliff, and not wanting to give in, threw the ball over. South, not thinking, jumped after it falling to the lake below where North Kaioshin was fishing. Mirai Kaioshin smiled as he remembered that same event. He could feel something tugging at his heart as he remembered the fun he used to have with the other Kaioshins.

East and West Kaioshin leaned over the edge of the cliff, watching South celebrate his victory in retrieving the rice ball. Mirai Kaioshin joined them and looked down. As he watched, he could sense evil not far from them. He stood up, the others looking at him.

“Is it Buu?” West asked.

“I’m certain it is,” the god from the future replied.

“I can’t even feel anything,” East said.

“I know…he has his power down to almost nothing right now. Bibidi took careful planning into this attack, knowing that if you guys are out of the way, there’s no stopping him to taking over the universe.”

The three joined Master, North, and South Kaioshin at the bottom of the cliff. West stood between both East Kaioshins, feeling a little scared. She knew that she was the first to die in Mirai Kaioshin’s time. Both North and South Kaioshin were feeling a little weird themselves. The power grew stronger, and soon a cloud of dust came out of nowhere. When it cleared away, a short, green man and a pink, child-like being stood in front of the Kaioshins.

“Well, Buu,” the green man said, “it seems we have a welcoming committee.”

“Bibidi…” Mirai Kaioshin said between his teeth.

“That’s them?” South asked, getting into a half fighting position.

“Yes…the pink one is Buu.”

“His power is unbelievable for a child,” West Kaioshin commented.

“No wonder we didn’t have a chance in the future,” East said.

“Don’t worry about it right now. The most important thing is to defeat them,” Master Kaioshin said.

Bibidi laughed. “Did you hear that, Buu? They think they’re going to defeat us.” He looked at the six people standing before him. “That’s odd…I thought there were only five Kaioshins.”

“There is,” Mirai Kaioshin said. “I’ve come from the future to warn them about you.”

“Oh! Well, this should be interesting then. Majin Buu…they’re all yours.”

Majin Buu smiled. His black eyes focused on the smallest of the group-West Kaioshin. He quickly disappeared from their sight. The gods looked around, and then Buu appeared in back of West Kaioshin. He laughed evilly and held out his hands, an energy blast starting to form. West Kaioshin stood there in shock, not knowing what she should do.

“No!” Mirai Kaioshin yelled and gave Buu a foot in the face. Buu flew into the air and stopped, looking down at the one who attacked him. “Everyone, we mustn’t be afraid. If we don’t fight him now, he’ll overpower all of us and we will all be doomed.”

“Right! Let’s go then!” South Kaioshin led the attack on the Majin Buu.

Buu smiled as the six gods came up to him. He was able to fight all of them easily. South Kaioshin was the only one to land a punch. Mirai Kaioshin stood back from the fight and watched. He couldn’t figure out what he could do to put an end to this. “I wish Goku were here…this would be over if he were.” Then an idea came to him.

Buu swung his arm around and clobbered West Kaioshin in the side, sending her into the side of the cliff nearby. East Kaioshin was distracted by this and was hit in the back. He landed on the ground with a hard thud. South Kaioshin refused to stop attacking Buu.

West Kaioshin climbed out of the hole she had made when she hit the rocks. She held her arm and looked up. Mirai Kaioshin stood in the air, not far from the others. He was concentrating on something. “That’s it, East…you know how to get to this guy…”

East Kaioshin got to his feet and noticed his future self in the air. He knew exactly what he was doing. He flew a little farther away from the battle and concentrated on making the same attack.

North Kaioshin could feel his power draining from his body. He didn’t know how much longer he could take. He now knew that it would take something of a miracle for even the gods of the universe to defeat the monster Buu. Master Kaioshin hovered in the air, exhausted from the fight. It had been nonstop fighting, something that he was not used to.

Majin Buu powered up an energy attack and threw it at North and South. It took both of them to keep it from destroying them, but finally they were able to deflect towards Buu. The monster ducked as the great ball of energy went over his head. He started laughing as it sailed by him, blowing up a mountain. He started laughing so hard that he wasn’t paying any attention to the others around him. North and South Kaioshin looked on in amazement as the child-like Buu laughed and clapped his hands.

“Now…” Mirai Kaioshin said to himself. An energy blast quickly formed in his hands and he aimed it towards Buu.

Majin Buu stopped laughing when the blast was inches away from him. He caught it just in time and tried to hold it away. As he did this, and started to gain control, another energy blast came up behind him and hit him in the back. East Kaioshin put all the energy he had left into the attack and was determined to stop Buu once and for all. North and South Kaioshin couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Majin Buu was in mid-air trying to hold each blast away from him with one hand. His arms were outstretched as far as they would go. The energy balls would start closing in on him, but he was able to keep them away, however unable to deflect them.

Bibidi watched in horror as his creation was losing to a group of gods. “How could this be? Buu can’t be defeated! I will put an end to this once and for all!” He looked above him and saw the Kaioshin from the future. “It’s all his fault…” Bibidi started waving his hands, creating a spell that would stop Mirai Kaioshin’s attack. Just as he was about to say the final words to his spell, an energy blast knocked him down, almost killing him. Bibidi looked up to see Master Kaioshin standing before him. “How dare you…” Bibidi said.

“No; how dare you come here and invade our planet. How dare you destroy the innocent lives and planets of the universe.” As kind as he was, Master Kaioshin brought his arms up, which somehow took energy from the planet, thus destroy Bibidi.

Meanwhile, the battle above was starting to close. Both forms of East Kaioshin were losing power, and couldn’t hold on much longer. North and South Kaioshin were afraid that if they interfered, the other two would lose to Buu.

“Just a little longer,” Mirai Kaioshin said to his other self.

“I hope you’re right…I don’t know how much more I can take of this…” East Kaioshin said after hearing the future god’s thoughts.

Suddenly, just as Buu was starting to gain complete control over the two blasts, a third blast of energy came from beneath him. He looked down to see nothing but a bright blue light heading towards him. He looked at all three blasts, but before he could react, the blast from the ground had hit his feet. Buu tried with all his might to keep it from over powering him, but it was too late. The makers of the three energy blasts pushed their last bit of energy into their attacks causing Buu to lose control. The three balls of energy combined, destroying Majin Buu in the process.

“It’s over…” Mirai Kaioshin said, panting for breath.

East Kaioshin smiled and gently fell to the ground. He lay on his back looking up at the sky. “I can’t believe it,” he laughed to himself. The other Kaioshins gathered around him. East Kaioshin sat up. “We couldn’t have done this without you,” he said to Mirai Kaioshin.

“Yes, we owe you our lives and the lives of so many others,” Master Kaioshin added. “And West Kaioshin,” he said turning to her. “I’m very proud of the way you gathered your remaining energy to give the final blow to that monster.”

West Kaioshin smiled as her face turned red. “I didn’t want East to take all the glory and create an ego,” she said making everyone laugh.

The next day, future East Kaioshin stood before the others, preparing to return to his own time. “Thank you,” he said.

“Why thank us? We should be thanking you,” East Kaioshin said.

“I thank you because you survived, unlike we did in my time. The universe is safe from Buu and the likes of Bibidi. I doubt if his son will try anything now that Buu has been destroyed. However, you must keep a close eye on him,” Mirai Kaioshin warned.

“We will,” Master Kaioshin said. “Thank you my friend.” He bowed.

The other Kaioshins did the same and thanked the future god. West Kaioshin looked up at Mirai Kaioshin. “You know, I always had a feeling you’d be something great one day,” she said with a smile. “Thanks for saving my life…now I can harass East Kaioshin a little more.” She winked and backed away.

East Kaioshin looked up at his future self. “I never thought I’d get to see what would happen to me in the future. I guess now everything will change from your timeline.”

“Yes it will. Everyone that died won’t now. The only draw back is that the Saiyan Goku won’t be able to come back to life. Rou Dai Kaioshin had given his life for the Saiyan, but now the circumstances won’t come up.”

“I’ll see what I can do. I’m sure we could do something about it,” East Kaioshin said. “Take care.”

“Bye,” Mirai Kaioshin said. He took a few steps back and waved good-bye. “Good luck.” The god disappeared and the five Kaioshins were left to their lives of watching and protecting the universe.

*The End*
